Carnaval Barcelona in Barcelona

The origin carnival celebration is unknown, it is related to rites and pagan festivities. Possibly, it has more relation with the saturnal celebrations that were used to in old Rome. The name of these celebrations, the carnival name, was because it was a tradition to take a walk by the city in a boat over a car, the naval cars. The first news of the celebration of carnival in Barcelona were dated on the year 1333.The celebration has changed a lot, although it has maintained some of it´s characteristics: the festive allowness, the permission to use costumes or the transgretion of order. The carnival is a season in which everything is allowed before lent arrives, with its days of abstention and penance.
