2011 sees the 18th edition of Sonar with a total of 26 shows by artists coming from 13 countries over 3 days (16, 17 and 18 June) in a unique mix of live music, global rhythms and a controlled chaos of melodies and acts with very different origins and and styles.
The headlining shows by Katy B, The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble, Zinc and Discodeine, are joined now by these new additions such as the young North American beatmaker 00Genesis; the Romanian hitek house producer Cosmin TRG; the legendary British reggae dj David Rodigan; the Spanish beatmakers Niño and Debilorithmicos, and one of Spain's best djs Carlos Hollers; the New Zealand band Electric Wire Hustle; the dreamy house of Japan's Hiroaki Oba; the danceable rhythms of San Soda; the native hip-hop of Matador Rockers and Pai Mei, the new leading lights in the Del Palo collective.
The programme will also include some amazing groups from many different countries over the world, like the well known Underworld, Aphex Twin, Magnetic Man, Die Antwoord, The Human League, Dizzee Rascal, Cut Copy, James Murphy, Janelle Monáe, Paul Kalkbrenner, Chris Cunningham, Boys Noize, Four Tet, Buraka Som Sistema, Katy B, Steve Aoki, Steve Reich + bcn216 + Synergy Vocals, Shackleton, James Holden, Nicolas Jaar, or many other like M.I.A., or Ryuichi Sakamoto, who will perform with Alva Noto.
