Tapería Lolita (antiguo bar Inopia)

Rating:

Good

Price:

Moderate

Originally Bar Inopia, founded by Joan Martínez and Albert Adrià in 2006, the pastry chef at El Bulli and Ferràn Adrià's younger brother. Then Albert moved to his new successful adventure Tickets and Joan changed the name to Lolita Tapería. For those who don't know yet, El Bulli was a famous world-class restaurant near Barcelona, so as you can imagine, the pressure was on when they opened. But it doesn't just churn out 'tourist dishes' - what's special about this place is they serve inventive versions of traditional tapas, such as fried eggplant with sugarcane honey. The prices vary from 0.75 euros to 23 euros, so there's something for every budget and taste, which explains the mixed crowd that come to eat. It's a fresh, fun place, and true to the tapas tradition, the food is served in a relaxed atmosphere, with good wine - try the Can Estruc from Penedes for only 2 euros/glass.
